Nathan’s partner, Mikayla, plays a key role in the smooth running of the Rolleston operation. We talk to her on what happens behind the scenes.
We haven’t had much of a chance to ease off after Cup week with the Grand Prix meeting coming up. We are looking forward to a break after that meeting and a week on the Gold Coast is in the plans.Looking forward to that.
Cup Week of course is a high pressure time and I found it very busy assisting Nathan and with everything going on there isn’t any spare time ! But a big plus for us is our staff. We are very lucky to have quality people working with us and in my position especially it is great to be alongside people who get on so well.
The highlight of the week is not easy to sort out but looking back I think it was Oscar (Bonavena,Dominion Handicap). He had deserved a win in a big race like that for so long and there had been a lot of setbacks so it was a thrill to see him do that. He is a grouse horse and had earned it.
I don’t have a favourite horse around the place now Sinbad has gone but a youngster I think is shaping well is The Con Artist. He is at an early stage but he is doing everything right and shapes as one who will go on with it.
