Franco Indie is in to win at Addington tonight as he resumes after a short break.
He was a shade disappointing on 15/3 when expected to deliver but the reason was soon found.
“His blood was out. Its a problem we have had with him over time but it is good at the moment and he has been working well” Nathan said.
“It’s a race he can win and is suited in and we will be expecting him to go close”
Franco Indie is to be driven by Devon as a Junior Driver is required to make him eligible for the race with his R82 rating. Devon had wide experience before taking out her driving licence, and since, which is another positive.
Franco Indie has at times been problematical for the stable not always showing the same flair racenight as at home and his form can be hard to read. However at $2.80 (8.04pm) he makes appeal tonight.
He is still in with a hope at the Country Cups Final with one more opportunity to qualify coming up in a couple of weeks.
Weekend focus will be on RUBIRA in the now Group One Diamond Classic at Invercargill on Sunday for which he is at an ever shortening $2.20 favourite (3.30pm).
“Tricky draw but I am sure Blair will be doing the right thing. In some ways I think he is better chasing speed than setting it so whatever happens he should get his chance” Nathan said
Rubira is ready to roll but it hasn’t been a leadup without its moments.
“He came home from the Kindergarten with a cold. The conditions down there for the race were tough. It wasn’t serious, didn’t hold him up for long and he is working at least as good as he was before that race”
Nathan feels the horse to beat may be Always Dreaming for Nathan Williamson who had things against him in the Kindergarten forced wide at the turn.
All the triallists at Rangiora on Wednesday reached their target times and plans for them vary.
Gigi Hadid an Art Major son of the relentless Elle Mac will probably have another trial and then a 6 week break.
“He is the sort we will be looking to the features later in the year with”
Trojan Princess, who qualified two starts back and had a relaxed hitout on Wednesday may have another trial and and then possibly a race. She is from a daughter of Under Cover Lover by Bettors Delight.
Eyeliner is also ready to race.
“We are looking for a filly and mares maiden for her and she should be very competitive in that”
