Akuta has come through latest testing in excellent shape and his headed for the Flying Stakes at Ashburton on Labour Day.
“He is very well within himself and it doesn’t take much for him to get away on us missing work but he should be fine on Monday. It is after that we will assess Kaikoura. He may need a run like that but we won’t know until next week”
While he has missed hopple work for a week that isn’t a problem Nathan feels.
“Its more the strong work he does. He thrives on his work and you need to keep it up to him when he is doing so well. We have a bit of time to work on that”
Akuta won the Flying Stakes/Kaikoura Cup double two years ago before going down to Swayzee in the NZ Cup.
The suggestion that some Australians not coming to the Cup has not changed plans for Chase a Dream who is aimed at lesser tasks.
