Things didn’t work out for Akuta in the Race By Grins,Friday and now he is off to Matamata veterinary experts for a checkup before heading to the Messenger on April 29th leaving Self Assured to be the star for the stable in the Taylor Mile next week.
“Nothing major at all just want to check all is well. ” Mark said
“I have thought there might be something minor niggling at him tho his work had been fine and he went a great race in the circumstances. Self Assured pulled up great and is ready to go next week.”
A lack of the early fire predicted against favourite Copy That was the undoing of the All Stars challenge.
“He’s a great horse but we were probably hoping from where we were that he would have had a tougher time early which would obviously have given us a better chance. Once he had that fairly easy lead he was always going to be hard to beat.That’s racing and all credit to the winner”
