First post injury scan of the leg problem suffered by super pacer Akuta is encouraging though Mark says there are no plans to speed up his return to racing.
The “Akuta Plan” subsequent to his injury was for a recovery period of 12 months and that remains in place.
“The scan was very pleasing. My partner (veterinary surgeon) Barbara was most impressed with how it was healing and while that is a boost we are content at stick with the original timetable”
Meanwhile Mark reports that Nathan is very pleased with Chase a Dream going into tonight’s G1 Sires Stakes Final where Natalie takes the reins from a tricky 6 gate.
“We spoke about it and it maybe best to get handy early but we will leave that up to Natalie and she knows what to do. He seems at his best”
Vessem and We Walk By Faith back up the stable favourite.
“We Walk By Faith is going ok though Nathan suspects he may be looking for a break. Some of these young horses have been very busy. He is working fine though”
Franco Indie is the stable rep in the $100,000 Country Cups Final but as so often with this guy optimism is muted.
“Nathan is fairly happy with him but he can be a hard horse to read and from the handicap will need some luck.He is right up with them if he is at his best”
