Last year at the Yearling Sales Mark paid his highest price ever to secure a youngster bred on the Bettor’s Delight-American Ideal cross. That turned out to be Don’t Stop Dreaming the top juvenile of 2022.

He was able to secure a close relation of Five Card Draw bred on the same cross from a NZ  Oaks winner for a more moderate $85,000 yesterday.

He probably remembered the colt’s dam Ideal Belle well enough. She raced out of brother Barry’s stable and was almost, but not quite as,good as an All Stars contemporary Dream About Me . She also has Soky’s Atom and speed stallion Butler’s B G close up in the pedigree which doubtless caught Mark’s eye.

Five Card Draw was a half =brother by Bettor’s Delight to Ideal Belle and was the leading two year old of his year winning both the Harness Jewels and the Sires Stakes Final as well ast the Young Guns Final. In later years he built up a Group winning record in Australia. If this youngster can reach those sort of standards he will prove a bargain buy
