It might be a surprise to many but when it comes to the best Purdon Racing bet of the day at the Grand Prix on Sunday two year old trotter LOOK TO DA STARS looms high on Nathan’s list.
A two year old trotter ? On a day when stable superstars are on show? How can this be ?
Well it has to do with feel,touch- and gear changes.
Look To Da Stars galloped at the 800 last week, wrong anted by another runner but in a way Mark felt that was not the entire cause.
Some steps have been taken since then.
“We have made some changes to his gear= and he is off the unruly list.” Nathan says
“He has been racing in an open bridle but on Sunday he is in a closed bridle and with removable ear plugs to assist with that.Just to keep him a little more focussed
We have also adjusted his shoes with a bit more grip on the back. We think that may have affected him last week”
Nathan has been impressed with the youngster’s work since.
“He is where you would want him to be. I think you will see a different horse this week and he has the ability to beat most of them when he is right”
Even more questions can be asked of the other young trotters on Sunday, WE CAN HAVE IT ALL,HIGH STEP and HIGH ENERGY.
“We Can Have it All is primed for a good run. She has a wide draw but I don’t know of many in there who can beat her for speed off the gate.She can work into the right place and is one who can score at odds:
“HIGH STEP is ready for a big race too though.She has been feeling good in her work and she did a great job in Aussie.She has pretty well had a nice buildup and I would be surprised if she is not in the finish”
The news is also good abouth HIGH ENERGY after her setback on arriving home from Australia
“As I said last week before the Oaks we weren’t entirely sure how she was.But I have thought this week she has been how I felt she was in Australia and that was a good place”
But Nathan when pressed comes back to Look To Da Stars among the trotting prospects for Sunday.
His proven judgement commands respect on the big day
