Captain Roy has been gelded and Mark has confirmed he will be spelling until June.
“He was disappointing at Timaru and the signs were there that a spell was in order. He would have been going out anyway. He should come back nicely as a three year old.He has always looked as though that would be a better year than as a two year old”
Buster Shaw has also looked in need of a rest looking likely in recent races then failing to pick up over the final stages.
“He’s done a lot for a first prep and he should only improve with the experience”
With Mark back and forth to Australia, Kerry is happy with the progress of the other two youngsters.
“They were in at Riccarton this week” she said on Saturday.
“Nothing too much just a couple of easy rounds but they are fitting in well”
