Mark skimmed over several lots associated with big winners for All Stars at yesterday’s sale but there was a familiar name in his final purchase on his own behalf, an unnamed Always B Miki colt from Weownthenight a qualified Arr Major mare and her second foal.
Weownthenight is a half sister to Thefixer the big hearted New Zealand Cup winner who battled problems throughout his career and overcame most of them to win nearly $800,000 including the Ballarat Cup with placings in the Miracle Mile,Auckland Cup,Easter Cup, Interdominion Grand Final etc testimony to his great determintion and courage. His dam was a high class racemare and a sister to Delightful Christian,Tosti Girl,who was trained by the Green/Hughes combination at Pukekohe
Plenty of talent to appeal to Mark there.
All Stars trained an earlier member of the family (Sir) Tosti Mach for a Kennard Syndicate and the family traces through high class mares like Patrician and Ulight bred by the Harrison family from Methven from the outstanding racemare Loyal Nurse, like Thefixer an NZ Cup winner in her case way bac in 1949.
