Pic: Linda Lovegrace as a Mum. She was a Group 1 winner on the track and there are hopes a daughter could match her
During the week we ran a nice story about how O Baby’s daughter Treacherous Baby could emulate her win in the 2012 Queensland Oaks.
Nice idea.Wrong filly .
The Editor takes the whole blame. Heard the Treacherous, jumped to a conclusion. Media no-no No 1
The filly concerned is Treacherous Love, who is a recent addition to Purdon Racing. The only thing we had right was that the Oaks contender this year is is from a Group One winner.Just not O Baby! Big handslap been delivered and remembered
TREACHEROUS LOVE,previously trained by Brent Mangos, will have her leadup race to Brisbane tonight at Alexandra Park and Nathan is not expecting anything spectacular.
“I think she would find it hard to win although her workouts have been good. It is her first race in quite a while and as long as she is strong to the line we will be happy ” Nathan said.
Treacherous Love and Major Hot are due to leave for Australia over the weekend and Major Hot will trial at Pukekohe on Saturday morning prior to leaving.
Treacherous Love, a half-sister to Luvstruck, retained by Breckon Racing for breeding purposes and raced by them in partnership, has not raced since December 10 in the Ace series at Addington when she was a good fourth, running on well without the best of luck to Duchess of Megxit, and a filly called Treacherous Baby (ouch again!) but that run suggested she will develop nicely at three.
Her dam,Linda Lovegrace, the first foal of Linda Grace, won the G1 Woodlands Caduceus Classic beating Katy Perry and also won a Breeders Crown semi final in Victoria. As a youngster here she was 2nd and 4th in Harness Jewels at two and three and third in the NZ Oaks to Fight for Glory and Democrat Party. Fight for Glory was the stable filly star of that season winning the New Zealand, NSW and Queensland Oaks, a performance of rare achievement.
She returned to race in Australia and won several races but not at that level.A number of close relations have been through the Rolleston stable including Pacing Major and Aladdin.
Treacherous Love was prepared by Brent Mangos to win the Delightful Lady Classic at Group 2 level and it would not surprise to see her go to the next level during her Australian campaign.
Nathan has hopes EYELINER can finally land one for the stable at Addington tomorrrow but knows she needs luck on her side.
“She never really got a go last time but she has the outside gate which won’t make things easy. But she’s ready to run a race if luck is on her side this time”
